Ok...another question. With this setup, are there any predictions on what it might run in the 1/8th?

    The rail type are non-adjustable...

They are adjustable since you have the ARP rocker studs, it's just that they are located by the rails rather than guide plates or broached holes in the heads. I used to set them to 3/8 of a turn past 0 lash with the engine warm.

I can see that sometime in front of a flow bench and then dyno could make any Ford person change their mind about how heads flow, but what do I know.
Wait why don't you ask the pros at.

Great article on what happens when you port and polish a set of 351W heads and INSTALL 350 chevy valves.

Well lets face facts, Chevy has a better head and we Ford people have a better rear end, I'm sure the Chevy guys hate to install that 9 inch in their Nova or Camaro but they do it.
At least no one could look under your hood and say isn’t that Chevy valves in your heads.

If I’ve learn anything in my 46 years on this sweet earth God has given us is that someone older and much wiser, more then likely as already done it, so why not listen to them.

    Read and learn!

I had a basic 302 with windsor heads(no port work done). A set of slicks, open headers, 4.56 gear and a "very" stripped down car and it went 7.71 in the 1/8th.

I talked to my machinist and adding the chevy valves may help but I dont have the pocket book to have the work done. If I did, I would have bought aluminum heads and been done with it. This is a budget racer/daily driver and all the experience in the world wouldnt do me any good if I cant afford to do what I know I should. I listen alot to what older and wiser people have to say, that is why I am on this board. Most of their recommendations are what I am incorporating into the Mav. I think I am going to be very happy with my performance to dollar ratio. BTW...couldnt read the full article, it requires a subscription...it was sounding great up until that point. If I get anywhere near 8 in the 1/8th mile, I will be thrilled but of course, always wanting more. If I go under 8, they will either tear my engine down or bump me into another class...which wouldnt be all bad. :)

Once again guys, thanks for all the advice. I really do appreciate it.
