It's fits better with much less headache, AND you can easily stroke it to 331 or 347 (5.7) anyway...

Sadly no i'm not sure if they are truely Maverick headers(stupid ebay.)... but they do fit the 302, its just by millimeters that everything is missing on cept one of the tubes and the steering box, it looks like you'd have to dent in the header like half way or less to get it to sit in there..... and i never thought about jacking up the side of the engine to get the header in the right position to bolt in... also... if anyone has any donations they would like to contribute to this wonderful car (aka transmisson crossmember) or anything else i might find useful i would really appreciate it.... i'm sure the headers are hitting in the back due to the I-6 tranny cross member that's still in it....

Why dont you try and sell the cleveland to get the parts you need. It doesn't sound like you need alot to get it going so i dont understand why you would want to hammer the hell out of everything to get the wrong stuff to fit. Mickey mousing now is only going to lead to problems and regret later. If it is that important to have it running do yourself a favor and put the 6 back in until you get what you need. Your mav and everybody here will thank you!

Your headers won't hit the I6 crossmember, you'll just have a hell of a time routing exhaust past it.

And you'll definitely need to have the engine unbolted and jacked up to get the headers on from my experience..

i dont have the inline 6... it went with the nova for the 302..... i want to put the clevland in it, because its a whole running engine, i saw it run, there is a chance the 302 wont....... so i was going to put it in my van with the headers on it, since i know that would fit in there without a single hitch....

and am i disgracing you or something? honestly i think a little war damage adds character. it dosent matter to me what it looks like, functionality is the key word, anyways sooner or later, i'm going to fabricate a way to put a a 69 camero front clip on it, and the tail lights.... make it quite the odd one out people will think i have a 4 door camero... cuz if you put them side by side.... either the camero is a maverick clone, or the maverick is a camero clone, the similarities are wierd.....

    My god man.

People here are being very nice to you. Other boards would have flamed you to the ground long ago.

    Enough said.

hey, twas just asking a question. i just wish people would just tell me what i needed to know first. then put there two cents in afterward..... cuz all i seem to be getting, is everyone's two cents.... ..

well hell maybe if you all pitch in enough, i'll have enouhg cents to buy a parts maverick for sheet metal..... so i can fix all the holes in the engine compartment i've had to cut in it.

seriously... thanks for the critisism. NOT. .... i mean really, if i had the money that car would have a blown inline 6 in it instead of the 351C i'm putting in it.... all i asked, was a simple question(or 10)... LoL... the only reason i even posted was cuz i read clear thru the message board... and couldnt not find anything that helped me..

302w/ headers that i cant get around the steering box without compromising the header flow(aka beating it in so it will fit around it)

my last attempt to put those headers in, i had to cut a chunk out of my tranny crossmember, dissconnect and take out the steering box, and master cylinder and booster. it took me 6 months to find the frame mounts for the v-8.

i want to put the 302 with headers in my van because they will fit in there no problem what so ever... and by the looks of it i'm going to have to run single exhaust on my mav anyways......

    OR

351C that came out of an 85-6 mustang(not the stock engine for that car tho) but since it fit in that car, there shouldnt be anything in the way a sledge hammer cant fix.

Dude, just do what makes you happy. The rest will fall into place, or not.

    Good luck.

Helmet, I think the info you are wanting from this site does not exist. If my memory serves me correct, nobody here has ever installed a 351C in a maverick. It just is not a simple thing to do, and most stick with the windsor based V8's. That being said, you are blazing a trail on doing this job. You asked for everyone to read and reply. Many have given their good common sense on the reply angle. I wish you success in getting your car on the road. If I ever see a 4dr Camaro, I'll know its you.

Well a 302 gets my official vote, but if you are determined to leave your mark on the world (and I get the feeling you are) go CRAZY! Find yourself something that has absolutely no business between the fenders of your fine Maverick machine, get out the torch and get it the hell in there.
I think a pair of 24 stud Mecury Flatheads would turn a number of heads.
    hehe
    Just stirrin' up trouble!
