I'm betting you have a bad pulley. I have seen quite a few pullies wear out. Instead of v-shaped, they will actually be u-shaped from excessive wear. This u-shaped pulley will just continue to stretch your new belt out no matter how many times you tighten it. Take a close look at it. Compare how the belt sits in the alternator pulley compared to the others. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.
Succes!!! So the issue was that the belt was rubbing against 2 metal tubes that come out of the bottom of the radiator, which was eating it up... so I got a belt a 1/2 inch shorter than the belt they say you should use and it doesn't touch those pipes and I haven't had an issue since! Thank you all very much for your assistance, this is actually the first time I've ever fixed a car when it broke down.... However minor it may be. Cars have been my enemy until I decided to buy this maverick and learn how to fix it, so you all are very valuable to me. Thank you very much and I promise I won't be so sappy next time I thank you
