Wow!!! That car looks incredible! Congrats Jim!!! I'm very envious of you. I seriously doubt there are any more complete collections anywhere. You need to try to duplicate the Sprint ads now when you get them all together. :)

Funny how one little email starts a chain of events. A few months back, Ken(Mavgrab302) came out to the farm to pick a couple of front fenders for his '74 Grabber. While there, he spotted the '71 Grabber I had stashed in a corner of the building. It was love at first sight and he told me if I ever decided to sell it, let him know.

I didn't really think anything about it until i went on the Pinto site and saw where Brad had purchased the Sprint Pinto. I wrote him an email explaining what I had and was on the lookout for a Sprint Pinto. I asked him what he planned to do with the Sprint. He thought about it for about a week or so and wrote me back that he would sell it to me since he really wanted a Maverick and it would complete my collection.

Enters Sarah(MavericK DVM), who runs into him at a cruise. She just so happens to have a Maverick for sale. The wheels start churning faster.

So, I say ok to the purchase of the Sprint Pinto. Ken says ok to purchase of the '71 Grabber, and it looks like Brad may be buying a Maverick from Sarah.

Wow, all because I asked Brad what his intentions were going to be with the Pinto. You never know what type of domino effect a question will have sometimes!

    Very cool Pinto!!!!
I have seen the Sprint Maverick and Sprint Mustang at Jim's Farm.
Now I would like to Know how many other collectors have all three Sprint's?.
I was told all three where only made for 3 or 4 months in 1972.

As for getting them to the car shows I bet there will be a lot of fans willing to drive one of them. I know I would.

    Ray,

What I really need is YOUR Sprint Maverick to make it complete. What a nice car you have. I saw it on the virtual car show and if it as nice in person, it is beautiful. Congrats yourself on a nice ride.

Thanks Jim. Actually the paint looks a little better in the photos than real life. I am planning on a complete strip and repaint in the very near future along with new seat covers. The car is as solid as they come with no rust whatsoever though. I think it will be the easiest car I have ever restored. It will merely be a cosmetic resto when I do it. It runs and drives perfectly. I'm looking forward to taking it to some real shows...maybe next summer. (y)

I hear ya...and if I can get things rolling along in my shop a little better I intend on making one or both! Seems like everytime you get somebody trained they leave and you gotta start all over. That's where I'm at right now. :(

Well, the eagle has landed. The Sprint Pinto is officially in it's new home. It arrived via a 6 car hauler. Since it was up front and on top, it was fithy and had some oily stuff on it, probably from the diesal fuel. I had to wash the car, then clean it again with greased lightning to get the residue off. So, in the morning , it gets another wax job. It is not perfect, but a better start than what I had with the other 2 Sprints.

To answer a couple of questions, the cost of shipping from Mich to Fl(1200 miles) was $650. That was cheaper than what it would have cost me to go get it.

As to getting all 3 to the shows, that will be awhile, since the Sprint Maverick is a bigtime project still. When that happens, I will need a little help from my friends. I have already had some volunteers from my Mustang club here and my neighbor, Ron, is a big classic car guy. Maybe at Silver Springs, we could have my Stang and Pinto and Dennis's Maverick all together! Who knows.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Thanks Brad for being so cooperative during the sale, and Sarah, for your help.

    Jim

    Pintony,

Looks like a good solid car you have there. I am sure you will have a lot of fun with the manual shift car.

I would love to see the photos you have of the Sprint if you could somehow email them to me at coutangman@bellsouth.net sometime or give me a link that I could view them. Thanks.

    Jim
