well if the car was at stock ride hight they would fit perfectly. the dead springs are the issue the wheels do slightly over extend the fenders but i dont consider it an obnoxious amount, atleast not in compairson to some things we've seen on here before
Even with new springs the tire travels up and the body comes down. Are the lips rolled by chance? I see some small cuts that tells me that they are not, unless there is an edge or something.
I like those huge wide tires on the back.. roll the fender lips and get a helper spring or GOD FORBID I SAY THIS HERE... Put some highjacker airshocks on it Ok I am going to go hide under a rock now for mentioning airshock in the same sentence as the word Maverick
I am going wide. I have installed 4 leaf leaf springs and Motorcraft shocks. I am hoping to get away with that, and maybe rolling the lips. I took out the air shocks, never did like the ride.
We all know air shocks are a bad thing on Mavericks, but I once saw a bracket built from angle iron and mounted just under the upper shock mounts. The air shocks were mounted to it instead. This eliminated the chance of ripping out the upper mount. If you're going to do air shocks, I would recommend building something like this.
SHACKLES CURE TIRE RUB. Large back tires that stick out are HAWT. There are easy ways to improve a Mavericks less than appealing posterior. I would suggest a tail light/bumper swap. Larger lights and smaller bumper. The bumpers from 74 and up are hideous and appalling for both Mavericks and Comets. Small bumper should be mandatory. The skinny horizontal half lights that are factory don't fill the panel completely leaving large empty spaces in the metal. Bobcat tail lights are a nice swap. I have seen Mustang tail lights from the early 70s and Shelby ones that look awesome. Cougar lights also look awesome.Comet/Montego tail lights are another option. Blackout the panel is another suggestion to make it look better.
Try this one... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=48364&highlight=bumper+tuck Type bumper tuck in the search field. There are several threads I just seen.
