Ya, its a costly engine. But its a 66 chevelle ss. The car is worth $28,000.00 to $36,000.00. So it makes sense to do it right and spend the money on it. As an investment in the long road ahead. Chevy guys spend more money then us ford guys. lol.
I still like my Maverick better then the Chevelle though.

Mild Stock is exactly what I have and low 15's is exactly what it runs with a 4 speed manual tranny. I have an Eldebrock 650 4bbl carb and intake, mild cam, dual exhaust with stock manifolds. Stock heads, 4 speed toploader, powertrax locker in the rear with stock 3.00:1 gears. It runs about as low in the 15's in the quarter as you can get. 15.02 was my best run to date. As soon as I get the rear gears changed and a couple other little things done I am going to be pushing into the high 13's low 14's

    simple but fun

find you a set of E7's from a Mustang( PROBABLY $100 ), get a spring package upgrade kit from Summit( $100 to $180 ), get a new or used Weiand Stealth carb intake($150 new ) , and a Ford Racing B303 cam or similiar, ($200 or less )
