When you Get the new part it will be self explanatory. The switch has a spring that can collapse with age. If your keeping the car for a long time I recommend getting the higher quality one. Have had the cheap ones fail after a couple years
Yes, just be sure the parts person doesn't confuse it with the brake pressure switch that activates the warning light in the dash.
So I replaced the switch already and now I get no lights?Could I have done something wrong? Are the back up lights used as the brake lights as well?
Did you install the switch backwards? As stated earlier in this thread. It will install but won't work...
No I installed it correctly the way the other one was...With the old switch I had to step on the brakes all the way but the lights would come on and now with the new switch I get no lights at all? Could it be something with the pivot and pedal maybe not making contact??I'm lost.
I would bet that your old switch was installed backwards. The U shaped side goes to the inside. You may want to check the female connector ends to make sure they fit tightly to the switch.
Did you check with Greene Sales in Cincinnati for your turn signal switch? I bought one there for my 69.5.
No I installed it correctly the U sidewent towards the inside. Here are some pictures of my old switch and my new one.
