Carburetor problems

    Well, the way us back yard guys would do it is get yourself a long thin screw driver, take out the #1 spark plug, turn the engine over by hand (dont let the screw driver get caught in the cyl), find top dead center, Use the top bolt on the bottom two front cover bolts, bend a piece of coat hanger so it points at TDC on the harmonic ballencer, tighten the bolt down, and there you have it. will look like some back yard, engine hanging off a tree wrench bender did it, but it will work untill you can get one that was made for the engine. I have had to do that with some 289s that have 302 water pumps on them. (timing marks end up under the water pump)

    Just a thought. At least you would be able to time your enging other than by ear and engine knock.

    now that thar is right funny, but i cant argue that it wouldnt work for now:bowdown::D
