i had to cut back the top so the gauges would fit through. so there is nothing to drill through. i believe rtv will work great. backside and youll never see it. i might also use the gauge brackets. mount them one hole off and itll hold against the dash the gauges are snug and i dont need them
Hope it works out. I just had a thought. You did a pretty good job overall so maybe IF this seems kinda small or if for some reason you decide to do something else, like me with most everything I do lol... Maybe a bigger head could be made and use the opening for the wireing. Just a thought.. I know guage pods are kinda pricey and tricky to place. I am hoping to use a bar accross the top inside of the glass and hang mine. My 73 dash had that vent and I also wanted to use it for something. My EQ I had fit perfect. Now I have a 72 dash with no vent so it's gonna be some changes for me in regards to this vent area.
i thought about going bigger but this kind of just blends in and isnt rel bulky. it simple. if i were you id just build a small gauge box for under the tray. like a console.
just bend piece of billet aluminum and mount in place of the factory cluster with after market gauges.
This is what I am gonna try. I want the gauges in my view. What size gauges you going with? I already have 3 new ones waiting to go in. They are 2 5/8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300347901123&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
forgot i never put the pics up with the pod finished and in the car. i shouldve have turned them up a lil mor but i like the look of them turned here they are.
