If you upgrade to 5lug, you'll have to. The housing ends are different. The backing plates & drums won't fit on the 6cyl housing. Man, $400 sounds like alot for 8' of pipe & 2 mufflers!

Sounds like your going to have a nice ride when your done. :)
Good luck with the dumps. I had it like that once and it was no fun sitting in traffic. The fumes can be over powering sometimes.

Not to mention they kick up dust & dirt all over your car! But it's hard to do duals the right way on a Maverick. I have 2 1/2" w/ an X-pipe, Flowmaster Super 40s & tailpipes. I had to bring the driver side tailpipe over the axle & 90 it, between the axle & gas tank, then 90 it again so both tailpipes are in the factory location of the OE muffler. But I do have them turned down, hidden under the rear valance. Still kicks up dust, but not into the windows! :thumbs2:

Yea $400 is a lot, I agree. I asked around in LA and I got quoted $300. He says he already got the headers, don't know what he put in there, I'm guessing stock.

he said he never got the AC bracket in, got delayed with the whole holiday schedule. So hopefuly he got it in today or early next week. He'll test drive it around some and tune her up for me and it should be ready! crossing my fingers, we'll see. I'll definitely keep posting.

So he's still at it. He said he had a hard time finding the right pulley to work with the A/C. Is the A/C conversion from I6 to V8 that complicated? I don't know when he'll be done but hopefully I'll have an answer by tomorrow. I'm really excited to drive her.

It's not exactly an "easy" task. I did my swap 5 years ago & still haven't mustered up the initiative to hook up the A/C! I got the brackets & bolts from my local junkyard a couple summers ago & haven't even cleaned 'em yet. You'd better wait the extra little while for the guy to finish it up... or you might ride with the windows down for a long time! :whew:

All done!! I picked it up today and drove it 30 miles home. A few glitches, the car shakes really bad, it's not a wobble, it's a really high frequency shaking that shakes the entire car. Worse at about 30 mph and a little less at 70. It's got A LOT of power, pretty crazy. The A/C aint working either (ironic that he spent a lot of time on that). It blows air but not cold air. I sent him and email so I'll see what he recommends.

If you rev the engine in nutral when stopped and it gets worce it may be the fly wheel, If it is smooth then, but gets bad when you drive the it could be the drive shaft , wheels or tires, Check motor mount alighment. Pinion angle as a start.

I let my mechanic know and he wants to take a look at it first. When I put it in neutral the vibration is a lot less. Also, the idle is high. When I have it in drive at a red light with foot on the brake it's a high rev, in neutral it revs lower.
I'll upload pictures Sunday night or maybe Monday morning.
