I have one of the escort 2 speed fans, and I am using the Volvo 2 speed controller with the volvo fuze/relay setup I found in a J/Y. I havent had any cooling problems, at all. One of the reasons I like the escort setup is because the fan is offset to one side but the shroud still covers the whole radiator.
I tried the taurus 2 speed fan and I tried the lincoln fan and they would all hit my water pump because of how thick the fan assemblys are. So for the most part the escort fan was one of the few J/Y fan options for me.

The fan I have came off of a 95 Crown Vic but there were several years that had these fans, just look inside the shroud immediately behind the radiator if you hit a salvage yard. The Ford part # was F5AZ-8C607-B
I'm sure one could be had from a crash parts supplier for much less than across a Ford parts counter but you could check. As far as 2 speed, use a late 80's Taurus low speed fan resistor to get the low speed if you want it.:thumbs2:
