Not argueing the last set I cc`d were close to 64. What are his stock 72 heads suppose to be. 58 I`m only guessing on that.

Well Dave, no arguement here. I agree. the only reason I have GT40's are becuase they were piched to me for $100 bucks. I could pass it up at the time. Now I have about $400 in them & it's still cheaper than new heads.

So the 1969-1973 351w heads are the iron heads to look for.. ?

What about e7te heads? I always thought they were good heads but I've been looking around.. and they don't seem to be any better than what I have.

    i would say the C9 and D0 are the best....C9=69 D0=70

E7 are what 64cc? i think they have smaller valves compared to the C9 or D0

I got a set of E7`s in the garage will try and measure them tommorow. The Do and C9`s are 1.85intake and 1.55 exh. The stock 72 302 heads are 1.78 and 1.45 if I remember correct. Checked the E7`s the the same as the early 302.

i have d5oe heads... thermactic hump removed, mild porting... slight gasket matching... 4 angle valve job... 120 # springs. shaved .015

and i KNOW i need different heads with my setup.. i bet that if i had scotts heads on my car, or any gt40 or p heads i would gain at least a bunch of power in my car...

i want a new set of heads... i want cast iron heads... simply because they are cheaper and i dont want the problems of having to raise compression and having to run high octane gas as i have heard needs to be done.

if anyone has some heads that will be better than my d5oe let me know.. please... spring is only a couple months away.

the best head to get from a 351 Windsor are the 1969 to 1971 (early) heads, IF, you don't want to do anything to them. If you are willing and capable of cleaning the lumps out then the 72 to 75 heads are better. They have the 60 cc chambers, big valves but the shape of the chamber is more oval and the valves are not shrouded - they flow better!
I have a pair of 1975 heads with the exhaust ports matched, the bumps removed, bowls contoured, and the runners of the exhaust ports contoured into and out of the area of the bumps to increase capacity. The intakes are matched to the gaskets, blended into the ports and the bowls contoured. They have a nice three angle grind and the chambers have been equalized and polished at 61cc's. The heads are on a street motor that turns 5400rpm to get max HP and pulls hard through 5900. The heads are capable of more - I would say easily through 6500 but not with the cam I am using.

    Tell ya' what, Bub.....go find a set of early 289 heads or a set of 69/70 heads and send them to me. If you'll pay for machine work and parts I'll port them for free. {Limited time offer, not available in stores, have your credit card ready, operators are standing by}

Then we'll see how these GT40P fans react. :evilsmile

*Edit* Offer open to stmanser since he's been rooked by a woman and left for dead in the middle of Nowhere. Yes...anybody that has to race at Cordova is in the middle of Nowhere.
Women....you can't live with them and you can't shoot them. :rofl2:

    I don't want any free-bees myself...
How much you charge me to port a set?
    Wonder what shipping would be...
I have a few sets of D0-W heads.
I could stand to sell a set, but they need to be checked and I have to know I have a good set for me... So it's kinda early to think about that.

That's for the porting guys. Guides, valve job, etc........extra. They're iron heads and they're a b!tch to port. You really have to watch the core shift on some of them or you'll end up with a trot line weight instead of a good cylinder head.

why don't you port some gt40 heads instead? Start off with a better head and you should get even more power no?
