yeah i kno what you ment by that offset but i think a standard one may fit barley? if not that was my back up or try a carb spacer to help clear maybe... im just throwing ideas, not trying to push yours away by no means i thank you for the info
the perfomance of the distributor is mostly effected by the advance weights and springs. on the hei those are located right under the rotor. most auto parts stores have kits that give you different springs and weights. so it is an easy dizzy to tune. i dont know about the quality of the compontes used in the dizzy but being an accell i would trust it beter than the cheap no name ones.
hmm ok. that makes sense... probably will make better sense when i see the inside of it when its in my hands ha.
when you take the cap and rotor off it looks like this. those are the wieghts and springs right there on top
oh ok cool. that makes better sense ha... im going to an automotive college and a friend of mine has an hei and doesnt kno anything about them ha. ill have to tell him this, that helps and makes sense
You would have gotten the same result by just using a Pertronix unit in the points distributor, combined with a hotter coil. Pertronix II or Crane XR-1 and a hot coil are good to 7500 rpms.
changing the weights and springs changes the timing curve. will allow timeing to come in faster(lower rpm ) or higher depending on how you set it up and the needs of motor.
