I did replace the tranny mount when I rebuilt it. I did a test on the way home from work. I took it down the road a 55 mph and threw it in neutral. No vibrations noticed. I then parked in a parking lot a held the throddle in just enough to keep my rpm's at around 2000 and I noticed that the steering wheel was shaking quite a bit. Now, question is, what's causing it....flywheel? Are there different torque converters for different years. I'm clueless.
Header contacting steering box will transmit into the column and give you some vibration but it shouldnt be voilent vibes.I cant help but think you have a drive shaft/u joint issue as well.Does the engine run smooth throughout the rpm range, from idle to wherever you let it top out at???just wondering if perhaps you are experiencing a higer rpm missfire/ignition problem as well.
Glad to see you posted where you are located. This has always been a pet peeve of mine. When people don't post a location and need parts or help with a problem. I somes times may have a part or some advice or know where a certain part is but I just ignore the request. Sorry but this is just my opinion. By the way I work in Gray. Tn.
Nice to know there's somebody close by. It's been a while since I've seen any Mavericks/Comets in the area. As far as my vibration problem goes, I've been toying with the idea of converting my comet to 4speed. Who knows, maybe that will fix it. Be more fun too!
It use to be red. It's been white with black stripes for about 2 years now. It was rusting pretty bad so I put a quick, cheap paint job on it to keep it alive. I bought it off a guy in sullivan gardens for $250. The last Comet I've seen around here was bright green, might have been a Maverick.
