since it is coming on christmas time Rusted Chevrolet- Da Yoopers This is actually written by Tom Cochrane who did a very good job of it but it was also recorded by Chris Ledoux and several other artists
Songs I think go well with cars; Jessica - Allman Bros. Renegade - Styx (would fit police chases really nice) Kashmir - Led Zep (Was originally called "Driving Through Kashmir", Even though when plant wrote it he was in Morroco. I prefer the live version, the guitar sounds dirtier") Highway Song - Blackfoot (It's about trucking but close enough) Smokin' Boston (Tire smoking, not what its about but still) Barracuda - Heart (Name says it all) Out On The Tiles - Led Zep (Ok, not about cars but the riff is godly, I guess out on the tiles makes sense if talking about an indoor car show) Bring It On Home - Led Zep (More about travel by train but close enough) Livin' Lovin' Maid - Led Zep (It was wrote about groupies but one lyric "Shes running 'round town in her aged Cadillac") Green Onions - Booker T and the MG's How Many More Times - Led Zep (just cause it sound like green onions) The Ocean - Led Zeppelin (just killer riffs) Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf Under My Wheels - Alice Cooper Runnin' With The Devil - Van Halen The Train Kept A Rollin' - Yardbirds or Aerosmith (I prefer the Yardbirds version, mainly because Page played guitar for them at the time) Heartbreaker - Led Zep (More riffs of awesomeness) Whole Lotta Love - Led Zep (especially live with the addition of a John Lee Hooker song and Elvis's Boggie Mama thrown in) Ramble On - Led Zep (Makes me wanna think of AMC's) In My time of Dying Led Zep - (Picture cars in farm fields rotting) EDIT: I guess that doesn't count as Zep, well 1/4 Zep. Same there.
Well, I get that from my dad him and I are HUGE zeppelin fans, we listen to alot of rock, blues, country, and other music from the 80's to the 50's too but we both agree Zeppelin is the best. I am probably the only member on these forums also registered here. http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?act=idx
Oh buddy this is beautiful, i did not know that this site even existed, i will be spending a few hours here, very, very cool. Thanks much as Led Zeppelin has been my favorite band since i was a teenager (shssssssss Feb 1981) Ramble On, oh yeah!!!!
Most of the allure of classic rock, Pink Floyd and ALL THAT ZEPPELIN comes from our "younger days"... in high school I had a black Buick GS and it was all Zeppelin and AC/DC, after high school it was a 69 Mercury Montego and camping trips and oodles of Canadian beer drinking by the fire in a mountainous campsite and cranking tunes (Misty Mountain Hop and The Battle of Evermore remind me of crawling through the camp because I couldn't walk any more...), and then it was Rough Boy and Big Log when my brother and I drove all across Canada in his 68 Mustang at no less than 80 MPH most of the way (a little faster going through the prairies).... when I'm sitting in traffic in my van the music is just background noise.... But when I play those songs on the highway (much louder) and I'm alone in my Comet, I'm 18 or 20 years old again... memories flood back... tunes bring back significant events in my life, feelings of discovery as a youth (yah... esp with the girls), and even the sound and vibration and smell of the cars I used to own... when I first sat in each of my Comets after buying them I remembered the smell of the old cars. ... and all the girlfriends who were jealous of the cars. I'm 43 and my girlfriend hates my music and hates my cars. Come to think of it, they all did. Rock on.
Well you took the words and thoughts right out of my mouth and mind,...... really!. I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks this way. Comet's and Rock 'n Roll, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Music is an integral part of our lives. It gives us a connection to each other(those who share our taste in tunes)It sparks fond/not so fond memories(breakup song LOL) and is there when we make new memories. It is as essential as air/water.Its also a great stress reliever(or maker)I still remember the tune that was playing in my blue mav when I drove it home after buying it...Black Dog...First car I bought after joining the Navy, and it had been a while at that point since the last time I rocked and rolled with a new set of wheels.Coincidence??? or just prophetic???Either way the hair on the back of my neck is standing up as I type this.
Just listen, and watch Les manhandle that 6-string bass... Also, pull up Car Talk on NPR and they have all kinds of songs related to cars. Most are very good, and also funny.
Check out Johnny Depp movies, i think he likes Mavericks. Edward Scissorhands- Mavericks in it. What's eating Gilbert Grape(i think)- red Maverick. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas- beat to $h1t blue Maverick. Pirates of the Caribbean- a Maverick drove him to the food truck when he was looking for something to eat. ( O.K. just kidding about the last one)
I found songs that mention Mavericks!!! Yee - E-40 "You can catch me in the traffic in the Cutlass or the Maverick Hollerin` Yeeee!" Vienna - The Fray "So this is your Maverick" Timbaland - Roll Out "Layin' in traffic, shiftin gears in the automatic Tryin' to get past this old couple in a Maverick" Finley Quaye has a song called "Maverick a Strike" Fun what you can do with lyric searches.
