Sorry if I ruffled a few feathers but I strongly suspected the answer I got... I know after the first day, my dad would have never driven such a over the top vehicle...

I'll stay out of these threads from this point on...

yeah.. but yer dad drives like a grampa. I kid. :D

You're right though.. the generational differences can have great impact on perspective. What we "younger guys" deem as our dream engine build.. they look at as "hard rock" that's tough to listen to for very long and perspective is key.

Which is why I specifically mentioned to keep the torque curve fat and flat(easy to do on a 363). Much more civilized to drive.. and not too many guys.. regardless of age.. dislike having even bigger balls when they wanna use em'. ;)

363 cubes + midsized TW's(or AFR's) + midsized cam + midsized exhaust = a whole lotta fun to bridge any generational gaps!

Better have cheaters on back and fast enough reflexes, though. :drive:

I don't see why spending money always becomes a big deal, if someone works hard, and makes the money, who's to say what they should do with it.
As for the engine, I would think starting with one of the new Ford Racing BOSS blocks would be pretty unique.

yep.. and if he mounted a set of aftermarket Cleveland heads on it.. it could be a new improved "Boss 363". Or a little "Boss 302" if you like to cheat. :p

Especially considering that this motor will likely end up needing custom headers anyways. Or does someone make 1 3/4 primary headers for the 8.2 blocks/Windsor heads in this chassis?

I did the same thing for my father-in-law with my Bronco because he simply loved the truck. It's finished, paid for, he loves it and leaves it in the garage. Rarely does it hit the road.

Only problem I see is that to build a 363,you need an after market blk. Before I`d do all that, just get a decent 351w blk & build a mild 408 stroker.Low rpm, high torque & will be all you want to handle on the street.Just get your shock towers cut,a set of Crites headers and away you go_Other than the shock tower mods this won`t cost anymore than the others.I don`t know how much of your own work you can do,but just something to think about,I wish you all the luck in the world w/ whatever you decide to do.:)

That is not an option if you see were my build is currently. If I was going that route I would have gone with the R&C set up and got ride of the strut tower braces completely. The paint is down and it not an option.

what made you not upgrade the suspension to something like the r&c anyway?
I never thought about you having a new old suspension

I want to put the modern suspension but dont have the money and havent gotten that far yet. I HATE my shock towers and I cant stand the way cut shock towers look.

for me the 363 was the option for alot of power without cutting anything and I can still change my spark plug without jacking up the motor if I didnt cut the shock tower lol its still tough for me to get my hands in there but I manage slowly and sometimes painfully lol

keep us posted where you get your engine built if thats what you end up doing

I ended up going with Total Control Products coilover front suspension. When I purchased it 5 years ago it was what I was looking for. It is still a really nice set up but if I had the chance to change it I would have chosen the R&C set up just for the room under the hood. Like I said it is too late to change without destroying the paint so I will stick with the set up I have.

YEAH NO DONT CHANGE IT NOW (y)

that set up will be a major improvement over what was originally there so you cant go wrong

isnt the really basic difference is the way the power steering is set up besides bringing the shocks and springs WAY down therefor eliminating the need for shock towers?

It is pretty much a mustang II set up and it moves the rack and pinion to the front.

I have the RRS rack and pinion set up for mine. It was expensive and I will have to do something about header clearance on the drivers side with the kit. It is a nice set up but not to many people run it due to cost. That is another reason I would have gone with the R&C kit.

Again what I put in the car is really nice stuff. The main reason for the R&C kit is the price for what you get.
