It's not a borgeson box, it's from ABS brakes in southern CA. Although it is similar being that you lose the power ram. The rag joint is approximately 2 3/8 closer to the firewall so that will have to come from the column. Headers fit just as bad/good as the old box.

You might be able to slide a couple sheets of paper between the headers and steering box

Time to disassemble the steering column. Get your hammer out and go to work by separating the main shaft from the column.

This is what the shaft looks like when it's out.

Then separate the inner tube from the outer with the same tool you used for the main shaft. The tape is there to let me know where the bracket lined up.

Those headers may have to have the pipe nest to the box alter somewhat to keep from banging/hitting when the engine is revved. My header seems to have a little more room w/ the new box than the OE?PS unit.
What does ABS specify as far as alignment spec's?

Inner tube is now separated from the outer.

I needed at least an inch to be cut so I started there. The end of the original tube is where I needed the end of the main shaft to be. Luckily I started at an inch because that's all I needed. I probably should go another 1/4 inch so these rag joint nuts are easy to install. Now reassemble what you removed.

Took me a while to get this sucker put on against the rag joint. Two people should knock it out fairly quick.

I haven't looked into it but I'll set them to what TCP recommends for their suspension.

I received the wrong pitman arm, I called ABS and talked to Pedro regarding the issue. Not a problem they have the correct one in stock and will ship right out. No pre charge for the new one or hoops to go through. He just said return the other when I get a chance. Painless, good customer service.

It is, the Mustang has the odd box... The Mav/Comet box is same as Fairlane/Torino '67 thru '71 as well as Ranchero, Mercury intermediates and Falcon '67-'70... Also Granada/Monarch... The '66 and some '67 boxes use the solid non-collapsing shaft, but bolt pattern is same on those as well...

Thanks for the good info Krazy Comet. For those wondering the price of this all, $550 for the box, $75 for the pitman arm and $75 for the rag joint.
