I have to agree with reeper on this one jamie, ford does make the maverick, but how many other ford products are there. This site is dedicated to the maverick and comet. Not all ford products.

I never said it was dedicated to all Ford products. I said the Maverick IS a Ford. 99.999% of people here build Ford engines for their Ford Mavericks. But I repeat myself...

Damnnit James, you're not supposed to take up for the new guy while I'm trying to give him a hard time. :p :rofl2:

In my cars, I want a Ford in a Ford! But it is not my car so he can run whatever he wants. Wouldn't be the first BBC powered Maverick I have seen.

Nope...me either...I'm kind of fond of the one in my garage! I did buy another car though, so I could swap in a 302 and keep it Ford. For me, it was a cost issue. I already had the 468 sitting in my garage.

    To each his own...

Wow! I thought this would die a nice, easy death...:biglaugh: What we seem to have here is "Car guys" versus "Race car guys".

Car guys car about what is on the hood, valve cover, glovebox, etc.
Race car guys care about who gets to the finish line first, period.

You see professional roundy, circuit, and drag racers switch brands all the time. Why? Because they are Race car guys, and they want to have the best chance of winning. That is what allows them to sleep with a smile at night, performance. Car guys love this stuff for a whole different reason.

Is one guy better than the other? Nope. :HandshakeBut they are very, very different people.

With all of that said, Reapers I am gonna try to go 8's w/ a stock suspension, bench seat, and small block Ford...:29:
    See ya' at the track..(y)

i like these last couple of posts. makes me feel less of an outsider. and you are right, people like different things. if i was starting with nothing,i would with out a doubt go with a ford powerplant. but the chevy is here, is bad ass,and looking for a good home. it is nice to see people who appreciate that. later---george

for the last 25 years, i've been building custom harleys, indians, and restoring challengers and barracudas.done a few fords (69 gt stang, and a boss 302). love em all. the greatest joy in life is to do the things people say you cannot do, and do them with the people you love. the only reason for not doing something out of the scope of the realistic world is a lack of imagination. look where all the greats started....in their sheds, workshops, scratching ideas on anything they could find. for all the others its just an excuse...i.e. they cant cipher the answer! run what ya brung, build it how ya like it, and **** the world!

I'm going to disagree with you here.
"you see professional...." swap brands all the time... It's not because they want to "win" and have a better chance... it's because of money. THey get paid more, so they'll drive whatever.

    You go for it reapersmagic.

I understand both sides of this engine passion, but I have been a hotrodder and worked in the racing /rodding industry most of my life. At hotrod events you will be hard pressed to find a Ford motor in a Ford. SBC is the standard. There are some that put a Ford in a Ford and a MOPAR in a MOPAR, but this is America and hot rod enginuity is what has made the car hobby grow.

I have a SBC in my MOPAR and a friend put a MOPAR in his Chebby. We made valve covers to mess with people. Mine say Direct-Connection and his have a bow-tie on 'em.

For drag racing, there are more Chebby powered cars as well. Ford purist understand this is a tube chassis race car with a Maverick skin, not a Ford car. Heck, The fastest Ford body cars out there are John Force's F/C's and they have a HEMI! Ford style motors have been tried, but no other motors have work as well as the MOPAR Hemi style in the fuel classes. Other then Pro-stock, stock or super stock the fast class Fords run non-Ford power. Exception is Ed Moss (TCI) runs a pro-stock Ford style motor in his nostalgia fiber glass 37 Ford AA/Gas.

A Maverick is a Maverick. Motivational power is up to the builder/owner. Don't take it personal or read anything into this. I won't put any other motor in my post '60's Fords then a Ford, but this Maverick is gonna be killer and it will be seen as a Ford Maverick not a Chevy.

Ok, my 2 cents. Let the arrows fly.
