An alignment helps to correct angles.. Cutting the spring will drop the vehicle and affect the load cap a little in my opinion. Droping the center of the weight can affect the camber, but not significantly, if your talking an inch or two I am guessing. I would only cut a spring as a last resort. The drop spindles will probably solve your problem/desire. Depending on the cost of the drop spindles vs springs, you might consider cutting the spring..

Will a two inch drop spindle lower the car exactly 2 inches? I don't want to just assume that they will. Even though they are called "2-inch drop spindles".

Once I get it all bolted up, I will measure how much I want to lower it, if at all. If I need two inches, I might do the drop spindles.

Maybe. Especially with long tube headers. But one must consider the spring capacity..
My car currently has a stock suspension and heavy duty V8 w/AC springs. I have no AC. Don't recall the capacity. They are STIFF. The car sits up kinda high. Droped spindles might be my answer.. I prefer stiff to keep the car at whatever height I drop it to. BUT. I like my car higher in the front. As long as the back isn't squatting at a stop. :D

The kit I bought from Full Tilt was originally designed for the use of full sizes MII springs so I bought a set of powder coated springs off Ebay. The picture here shows approximately how much the springs have to be compressed to get inside of the top hats. I have since changed my mind and decided to go with coil overs since I am using them in the rear too - My lower A-Frames won't have to be changed but I will have to revamp my top hats so the coil overs can go past the A Frame mounting points and pick up a mounting bracket that I will need to build off of my cage/frame. :)

    Scott,

Not sure how your kit stacks up to the coilover kit I have, but this pic is of my car at it's highest adjustable ride height with standard (non-drop) spindles and an aluminum engine. If it were lowered even 2" it would be a pain to drive.

Russ, that is about how mine sat prior to cutting this all out. I would be perfectly happy to have it sit like that, and wouldn't touch a thing.

Let me get my top hats revamped and my coil overs to fit and I'll put you first on the list if I no longer need them :)

I think cutting 2" frm a spring wud make for a harsh ride. Esp. if it's a stiff spring frm the outset. Im not informed enough to say how it wud effect alignment; although I assume it wud have some effect.

I know from my early days of Stock Car racing, it did change the spring rate but I forget how - I'm thinking that it raises the rate somewhat with every coil you remove - late on in racing we were just allowed to buy whatever rate we needed instead of cutting stock coils :)

If you cut coils it does raise the spring rate .
