Isn't that block still drilled for a roller? Unless it isn't from a mustang then my knowledge falls off there lol. Yeah its a decent little setup. Forged internals all machined to match perfect.

Nope there are no holes for the keeper tray deal.

In 82 the 302 went to a 50 oz imbalance but didn't go roller until 85.
So my block is a 82-84........

ohhhh i see now. its an earlier 80s engine. well that kinda stinks, but you could retrofit it if it was worth it to you

Nah not worth it. I have a roller sitting that needs built anyways. I don't mind the flat tappet stuff my power goals are pretty mild with this setup anyways.

The roller is getting a stroker kit and some nitrous to hopefully help it into the mid 400hp range.

thats my plans for this motor as well. i am already bored to .30 over, i would just need to pull the motor and install the stroker kit. may or may not build another motor instead though. and stroker or not i am getting a wet shot for this engine for sure

okay so progress has been made! i pulled all of the plugs today and did a compression check. all of them were just a hair under 150lbs of compression after 5 comp. strokes, so the head gasket is unlikely. i did pull off the intake today though and it looks like the water is getting into the oil via a bad gasket installer (me). the intake gasket wasn't gasketing very well and was letting water into the oil. problem solved there. so i am going to put humpty dumpty together again and continue with my tuning. but this time humpty dumpty is getting an HEI distributor, new wires, and new plugs, because i was iffy whether they were up to par. gonna cross my fingers and hope they help.

    Make sure your getting spark.
If you are pull your number 1 plug and hand rotate or bump the motor over with the coil off until you feel your finger get pushed off of the number 1 plug hole. That will be the compression stroke on 1 and where you need to stab dizzy.

yeah i wired my starter switch wire from the starter to the firewall into the cab instead of factory wiring so theres not wire for me to tap under the hood lol. ill just have to run a wire down there from the battery so i can get the number one for sure

I normally turn it by hand with a 1/2" ratchet I don't like bumping it with my hands all up in there lol.

Lol probably smart of you. I like to get it ballpark with the starter then use the ratchet to get it perfect.

Okay so i deffinitly blew a gasket somewhere. I think it might be my intake gasket. I hope. Crankcase had a ton of steam coming out after a drive. Hopefully its intake I'll keep updated
