What is he looking for and his budget?

I have a project that can begin cheap ($300 rust free 70 body) and continue as cash flows. You can buy a daily driver for him, which he probably will wreck most kids do. Then have a cool car ready when the driving experience is improved. JMO

Any interest come see me or PM.

I think a wise decision. If he didn't want a project...this is exactly what this car would have been.

I like how the very FIRST line of the description says: pristene 1973 ford maverick
and the seller uses other lines like: Shes as rust-free as a car can get.. Absolutly perfect.
    and
Totally stunning blast from the past.

This doesn't look "pristine" to me.

I agree w/ Craig. If he does'nt want a project than it's better for all involved to move in another direction. Also, if that car is pristine what wud they call a beater?

That is a really good question. :D

To be fair, I think the seller's point about "pristine" was specifically in regard to mechanical condition and it being a rust free car. I wasn't opposed to a bit of a project, but as we got into more and more details, it became obvious this car was substantially more project than my son (and wife, who faithfully chimed in) was willing to dig into.

    So we are Mav-less again...
