Pros and Cons of various rear lockers/limited slips

    summit & jegs have new gears for about $180. a good install kit with new races bearings & shims about $100. 3.25 with a short rear tire would be an improvement, but 3.50-3.80 would be better.

    Yeah, 3.25 isn't the greatest at the strip, but, it's a good compromise between street/highway driving and strip duty. Remember, Mavericks usually have short(er) rear tires, so 3.55's may be a little much for 70+mph. Years ago I had a '83 F100 wth a 466....had 2.26 gears from a Lincoln 9" in it with a mini-spool. I used to shift from first to second just past the 1/8 mile and crossed the finish line (1000' track) in 2nd running about 3000 RPM...stock converter. But, it did cruise 75 mph at 2200 RPM and get 16-18 mpg(y)
