Glad to hear the good news. I've been watching the news reports on CNN and it's a huge mess down there. I hope all our Maverick and Comet brothers and sisters who have been in Ike's path are safe and sound.
We are back and power is restored! That has to be record time for the power company!!! Less than 48 hours... Thanks for all of your support, guys. It was a nasty storm, but we pulled through, and my little house held up amazingly. They were clocking the winds here in Angleton at 115 mph.
My folks will be allowed on the island to assess their damage and remove any property, but they will be forced to "sign in" with the police as they enter, and if they are not "signed out" by 7pm, they will be arrested and jailed. They are still not allowing residents to return to Angleon and surrounding areas.
Glad you made it thru everything alright, Scott! I was really worried about ya'll when the pics started coming in of the damage done....
Glad to hear you made it through the storm okay. We were all concerned about all the Texas members. Hope your parents make out okay also.
Just got back from Surfside to survey the damage to the parents' house. It is still standing, and the home portion (up on stilts) is only minimally damaged. Cosmetic stuff, mostly. But the part below the stilts that is used as a utility shed is pretty bad. Hot water heater, a/c unit, destroyed. There are MANY homes that just aren't there anymore, especially along the beach. There is much unobstructed view from my parents' house to the water that used to be filled with other people's homes.
Thought you guys might get a kick out of this picture...this is my living room floor during the time we were running the A/Cs, fridges, and fishtanks off the generator... Any electricians out there? I bet you are cringing...
Yeah, like Don said,, you made it thru okay, considering. Must have been nerve wrecking. I love how the goldfish is posing for the camera. Dan
