In April '09 I had mine shipped from California to Indiana for $894.00 by FiveStarNationwide.net. Gilbert brokered an Air Stream trailer hauler, RV Express, to get her here.

Shipping a car is not the most fun experience that I have had but a lot had to do with the car sitting so low, had it been a normal height car it would have made it to me in less time and hassle.

As Ray mentioned, Elliot at Allstate got a truck to the car quickly but the driver didnt think the car would go on the transport safely and neither did Rick (previous owner of car) then a second truck was dispatched but due to my mixup there was no one to load it (talk about a mad truck driver). I wouldnt hesitate to use him but figured I had burnt bridges with him after a no show

As said before you have to go through a broker, there is a site on the web that you can go to and see the ratings of brokers, basically it is hit and miss on finding a good one as they all seem to have good and bad things said about them plus you really dont know if they deleted the bad ratings.

I would stay away from the lowest price as the car may sit until somebody gets hungry enough to take it for what the broker has offered. Another factor that is involved with shipping is the location of pick up and drop off, drivers dont like to stray away from the interstates too far.

And most of all do not believe the times that they tell you they will pick up and deliver as many things can happen to cause delays--truck broke down, weather, another car to pick up or drop off.

Good luck with it if you decide to have it shipped, if I would have had the time I would have went and picked the car up myself.

It's a $3,000 car. LOL I guess I'm one of the few that appreciates these cars for what they aren't.

any one can restore one ,it takes a man to cut one up....oh uh that was one of my gto's ....but, no I like seeing the rare-er cars and very clean originals to stay stock, as examples of what was, but to each their own ,I feel its your car and your choice,as for the car transporters I have not had to deal with them and been lucky enough to be able to pickup all the cars I have had so far ,but would not be afraid of trying them ,I hope you have good luck if you use them.I have not seen the car or know how few were made like it ,but if it is a nice grabber etc. keeping it stock or able to be returned to stock would be cool and wouldn't kill its value later on, and if you were wanting to cut one up (as that is my plans with my 71 , its just a plane jane maverick ) a regular one wouldn't lose a lot of value being modified ???jmo. best of luck with it no matter what the plan is to do with it !!!!

Yea, I know, probably would be here too. I'm just getting all my contentiousness out before the new rules go into effect. :biglaugh:

I bought my Mav on Ebay, won the auction and didn't even bother to see where it was. Turned out to be in Oklahoma. Cost me around 900 i think. I used a broker, who explained to me that he charged more than some other brokers but assured me that it he was picky about who he used and to get a quality trucking outfit you cant be looking for bargain basement pricing. His pitch sounded fair enough.

Needless to say I wasn't too happy when it showed up on a trailer on a Sunday at 10pm with no way to get it to the ground. I ended up searching high and low for someone with a flatbed to transfer to (which was kinda hairy cause it wasn't high enough even with wood stacked under the rear tires)

The car did arrive safe, and the driver paid the flat bed operator. The broker even refunded me some money for his failure to provide the services as described, but who needs that stress. I would rather deal with an auto transport company direct, so you know exactly what to expect. I give Rays transporter a call.
