Jon Kaase, one of the premier Ford engine builders said it best. What he does is not rocket science, but a culmination of years of trying things to see if they work. Some do, some don't. You build on the things that work and don't get too discouraged over the things that don't.

Pypes performance makes the best X pipe
Go with that if not, just go with a simple H pipe

I installed a "Jones" stamped X-pipe, with Flowmaster glass packs. Works & sounds great.

there are several claims as to which x pipe is best in this thread. groberts explains the design importance nicely but i wonder on what are the claims of best x pipe being based?
i personally use the flowtech x pipe/cutout kits on my cars mostly due to cost. its located to fitment. now also ill say im not looking to squeeze every single pony out of my motors.

Nascar used to use the Dr Gas X-pipes on their cars. That is where I first heard of them and started using them on my cars. I've been hooked ever since. They went out of business for a while and you couldn't get them, but they are back to producing them.

I installed a Dr.Gas X-Pipe when they first came out on my Comet .. worked great .. We have since built our own version of the X-Pipes by purchasing our own Mandrel Bends and after a little cutting and welding we have the same
setup only a lot less expensive. I've had X-Pipes on 8 Comets and Mavericks so far and they work just fine. I reason
that the exhaust doesn't turn Left or Right when it comes out of the headers .. but a slightly angled direction(X-Pipe)
directs the exhaust flow un-interrupted !! Just my take on the exhaust . Either way .. I wish you success.
