couldnt fit cleveland heads? wow well you found the right site we all have tight engine bays , including us windsor guys , is that photoshoped? looks pretty damn cool
It would have gotten up and gone alot better with the boss gear in it, rather unfortunate that its a bit of a squeeze to get it in.
Tight engine bays are a curse arent they! Yeah the colour is photoshopped on that picture, other then that nothing was changed. The original pic was of a white australian 65 Falcon, also known as the XP. They came out only with six cylinders here, most people fit v8's into them as soon as practical.
there's nothing finer than black primer BTW, while we're on the topic, are there any differences between a torker and a twisted torker II intake? and I just looked up my cam, .498/.498 at 260 on both. I need to fire that thing up
Torker and Torker II are completely different. I think they made the Torker II lower profile to fit under stock hoods. It ended up being squared and boxy, where the Torker 289 is tall, and has nice straight intake passages.
Remember when porting a T289, don't go too far with it. Port match the head side only about 1/4" in. On the plenum, they say best results come from only porting the top of the plenum. Where the carb sits, and then blended down into the tops of the ports. Beyond that, you are only supposed to clean up casting boogers in the bottom 2/3s of the plenum. This method was flow bench proven way back in the old days when this intake was 'state of the art'. Love that intake, best made for an SBF. Now the carb is a different story. I am a Holley guy all the way. Dave
Mine looks pretty well ported throughout. I have never seen one new, so I don't know for a fact, but you can clearly see that material has been removed from all inside surfaces.
I gasket matched and blended smooth up to 3/4" but the heavy removal was right near the gasket surface, smoothed the plenum abd removed the garbage as well as I could in the bottom of the casting, should flow some air
When I had my 1970 Mav drag car, I was running a 302 with the Torker 289 intake and a Holley 600cfm double pumper. Ran great in the mid 12's.
Thats a pretty nice falcon you got hereHeres the one i'm going to start working on in the next few weeks
I don't get the Xs with Firefox. Just blank space. Click on his website. Same thing, just blank space. Hey, M-75, you got a problem with your pictures? Anything we can do to help?
Apart from the Info on Fletchs mustang page is there any other info or guides on porting the T289? Thanks for your comments guys, really appreciated.
