I have a friend here local that just installed the Versailles 9" with brakes and no modifications that I know of. He said the wheels sat slightly outward but fit under the quarter lip and he liked it. I'll see if I can get in touch with him, but he didn't mention any issues.

BTW: this was also the same car that he got the factory subframe connectors off of that fit with very little modifications.

    Well said.

Those Versailles rear ends are very heavy too.

Still another way to go is to get the adapters for the ends of the axle housing to install Explorer rear disc brakes onto your 8 inch rear end.

Most of the guys that I have known that have gone the Versailles route (on a Mustang), never get around to hooking up the emergency brake. The cable routing geometry is near impossible without modifications. I think that the Maverick rear frame rails interfere too. Anyone know?

Yep....I got it and am going to get going cleaning and installing the new center chuck tonight. As far as I'm concerned, the only way to go on a car that's gonna make any real power should have a 9". Especially if you can find a direct bolt in! I mean anyone can call Moser or Currie, spend $3000 and have a killer rear set up but that ain't hot rodding as far as I'm concerned! (y)

Some sort of adjustable cable is necessary on versaille rears as that is what adjusts the pads to be close to the rotor when you step on the brakes for a good pedal...Without it the pads retract too far meaning the first time you step on the pedal it will go halfway to the floor

You just need a Wilwood 2 pound residual valve (blue anodized) that you plumb in line to either a front or rear disc set - it holds 2 pounds of pressure at the calipers so they don't back away from the rotors. Not to be confused with the residual valves built for drum brakes which are 10 pound and red anodized (y)

yes but the rear parking brake is a worm/screw assembly, pull on the lever on the caliper and the pads lock against the rotor...This has to be adjusted or the pads back away from the rotor too far

    From another board......

You know what? - I wasn't thinking about the stock Versailles calipers with the parking brakes :slap:

I am using calipers from an 85 C-20 Chevy truck with weld on brackets and Jeep Cherokee rotors - and no parking brake - in my case I need those residual valves.

You still need something on there to adjust the parking brake lever on the caliper

lokar has universal parking brake cable kits that you should be able to work with.

Yes! That's what Currie Enterprises recommended to me when I spoke to them.
