Your problem sounds like more than just the water pump. The water pump damage might be the result partly of the throtle staying wide open. Check the throtle spring and linkage for breakage or loose parts. Good luck.

I have a rusty hood that is pretty bad on the inside but the outside sheet metal aint bad at all. You can have it. I will be going to my daughters in Camden NC for Thanksgiving and pass through Chesapeake. I could hook up with you somewhere if you want it.

October must be a bad month for water pump housings. The same thing happened to a '73 Maverick I had at the time on October 24, 2004. Fortunately, my hood was up and I only had to replace parts and not sheet metal.

hmmm after seeing this and almost loosing a couple fingers earlier this summer on my 200 UNSHIELDED fan blade. I might do the taurus fan upgrade when I drop in my 302. I'll tell ya THAT woke me up was leaning in to adjust timing and the tips of two fingers just touched the blades and went ta-ting ! I had forgotten it was wide open.

No damage whatsoever but we all know what could have been.

It looks to me like the motor mount is bad. He fired it up, the engine torqued over locking the throttle wide open and the fan hit the hood- broke the pump and into the radiator.

Cables aren't suppose to lock up like that but I have seen it happen.......
