I'm pretty sure the roof mounted mirror was not an option on '69.5's. However, a roof mount '66 Mustang rear view mirror is a perfect fit in any Maverick, provided you have to drill new holes to mount it. That is what's going in my car.
I was offered $12,000 for the 69.5 in my Avitar because it was restored back to OEM,, I turned it down,, it has 28K miles and a 200 with an automatic trans,, I frame up restore on it and rebuilt engine and complete drive train,, Used car lot across the street from me had a 73 302 Maverick needs a serious restoration job and has rust hole in the wheel wells,, it sold after sitting 7 days on the lot for $5,800. I could not believe it,, So I do believe the prices of these cars are going up big time,, Just took an order for a Comet GT build and a Maverick Grabber,, so they are getting some Great press,,
The one I have has 36K original miles and I have decided to do a full resto. I have done my share of cutting up of vehicles and I really want to restore this Maverick. I bought another engine and trans to put it in for now to drive as is but I plan on rebuilding the original. At that point I am going to take it off the road and completely go through the whole thing bolt by bolt.
The Old Car Price Guide states the value of a 1970 (early) at over $10000 in good condition. Face it guys - our Mavericks are getting more valueable all the time.
i've seen a couple of 69 on here with roof mounted mirrors, i've also seen a 73 comet with one i asked the guy and he said he got it out of a 69 1/2 mav
my 71 has 34,000 miles on it and is mostly original, and i agree with the rest , their value stock is not high enough to warrant not building it the way you want. i paid$3,700. for mine and it could be restored, but it is not a rare model or super low production car. to me those would be the ones to restore, but even then to each his/her own. the value is secondary to what the car is to you. i have just as much fun with my $3,700. maverick as i do with my $30,000. 2007 mustang Gt. maybe more ...besides any one can restore one it takes a "maverick" man to cut one up!
I have a matching one to. it has a 200 6cyl and it is a 69.5. everywhere i go everyone looks at it, and asks what am i running in it and i show them the 6cyl. everyone tells me to do a 302 but everyone i know has 302s so i decided to be different and put the 400m in it. If you need 6cyl parts let me know my 6 cyl has 65,000 original miles on it.
My 69.5 maverick did not have a rearview mirror. I took one out of a 86 mustang and where the allenkey turns into the mirror against the plate that you glue to the winshield I pulled the screw out of the center sunvisor holder and mounted the mirror there and used the longer screw...it works perfect and i didnt have to put holes in my car
what about a 69.5 worth in excellent condition. no tears rips no bond straight body. no rust or anything..Primed and ready to paint it was ugly green...with 65,000 original miles
Must have been a California only thing then. Because the other 50 or so 69.5's I've seen didn't have them. The only one I've seen, the owner knew it came out of a Mustang.
Mine mounts to the windshield. 1967 was the last year I know of roof mounted r/v mirrors in Ford passenger cars.
