:D i go with dennis, the white letters are nice if you are sitting still but when they are moving they look like curbed whitewalls. and it is hard to stop the car with all the letters the same on all the tires. now myself, not that anyone has noticed i like my tires on the rim with the valve stem at the same place on all the tires and the center cap in relationship to the stem also.jmo...frank...:bananaman :bananaman

I like the white lettering out...... jmho...... I think the BFG look good with the lettering out but 71gold hit the nail on the head, I hate the fact the tires never line up the same way, first burnout and the don't line up anymore

Thanks Bob. :D Mine are 14's because I got a 'deal' on them. (started out that way anyway...) If I did it all over again, I would have gotten 15's to fill the wells up a little more in the back, since I'll end up buying a quicker gear for the rearend.

I do agree though, they do look a little like chewed-up whitewalls going down the road, but at least I know they are not. :D

60 and 70 seires tire I think look better with white letters, 50 and lower look better black wall. To me it always looks like somethings missing, like shaved door handles. They look great but somthings missing that should be there to break the area up.

    My 2 cents

I think white letters looks nicer! They give the car a performance look that was common in the late 60s and 70s. I don't care for them on new cars. The wheels are big and side walls are small. Joe

personally if your going for the old school muscle car look.. yeah rasied white letters... but thats on cars like you see at those concourse muscle events, 440, Yanko, shelbys etc... personally i don't think mavericks fall in that catorgory.

i'm new school... black walls!... also when i think of raised white letters i think of the 70's.... along with ugly colors, shag carpet and indy style mags (never the less the term mags) and love vans with crecent moon windows. i think if white rasised letters look "that" good you'd see them on the new GTO or Mustang. but thats just me.

I would have to say White letters for the classic 70's look.

I have white letter tires on 2 of my vehicles. Really depends on the application if I like them or not. Mostly I like them. My stallion arrived with Firesone 500's which were white letter and a huge recall to follow. Now that I think of it, I had a 76 Cobra II at the same time. I got both cars with new tires all in one day and it didnt cost me dime. I didnt mount them on my mav cause I had Cragar SS on it. Ended up giving the new tires to my older brother who was back home on a visit with a young family and bald tires on his car.

uhhhhh that was todd using my name before. i have to agree with him though. SOLID raised white letters as opposed to those recent white outline tires. one other thing- i read you are looking at t/a's. we did too. i did a little research on tires before i bought my FIREHAWKS. according to the research, the t/a's were a great handling tire. duh!!!!! my brothers' beemer had 'em and they really hold the road. i went with firehawks instead because the bad point for t/a's in 3 different evaluations t/a's although had great handling, they got hammered for wearing out rel fast compared with other performance tires. since our mav is a daily driver, i went with a tire that would last. the firehawks handle pretty sweet too!

Back in the olden days, err, um ok in the 70's, BFG sponsored a race series in SCCA called the BFG radial challenge. The king of the class was the AMC Gremlins. All cars had to run BFG T/A's. They were shaved of tread down to 3/32". That's when these tires would work, but only on high speed stuff like Riverside, Willow Springs, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca and the tracks in the east and mid west (remember I'm a west coast guy). We tried them on an autocross car and they were garbage! A friend put them on his Vega and I drove it. The tires were up in smoke in every turn. I ran shaved Good Year Eagles and wooped him every time. However, we are talking about looks here and the BFG is period perfect on 70's cars that are made to look 70's. My Grabber is stock appearing and like most of you are sayin, that is the look.
