Don't change a thing with that car! It's absolutely perfect IMO.

The only thing about historic plates is if you get in an accident, you have to be careful to say why the car is out. Tuning it up is a safe way to go. If not insurance will not cover it, if you let them fix it...

Hi Derek, nice to see another kickass comet. Someday mine will be that nice. I had a question, what size rear tire and rim are you running?

I have 15x8 Wheel Vintiques with 4 1/4 backspace and 255/60/15's. Kinda gives it a little tougher look.

At the track i have had 15x8 weld wheels with 3 1/2 backspace with 275/60/15's.They are tight but don't rub.

I'm with Silver Wheels. I was thinking about that plate, just because I know atleast 5 guys that have them, never have any issues, and if you saw those pic's of the 68 Mustang I posted a few weeks ago, he's been running them for 2 years with no issues. $15 is alot cheaper than$74 :D

I can't find them on the website now, but at one time, Antique plates were more expensive in N.C.

We do have a clause in N.C. that allows us to run year model plates provided that we keep our standard 'real' plates in the vehicle.

"Any motor vehicle of the age of 35 years or more from the date of manufacture may bear the license plates of the year of manufacture instead of the current registration plates, if the current registration plates are maintained within the vehicle and produced upon the request of any person."

We also have that in Ontario, "YOM" Year Of Manufacture, but the stupid part is, Ontario plates have been white with blue letters since 1970, and still are to this day. The only difference is they may have the year stamped in the corner, which I think stopped around 73? then you have to send them away for approval, af if the numbers have not been re-issued, you can use them, but at $74/year....

Thanks but no thanks i would much rather keep my WABBI7 plates on the Comet than Y.O.M. plates.
