When their cars are almost 30 years old then we will compare.

1973 Maverick 302
92,000 original miles

they say it's a junker? Then they can go out and shut the door, listen to the "thud" it makes. It shuts all the way with a slight push, unlike the GM counterparts (camaro, vega, monza, especially the trucks!) I'm sure the article was biased, someone payed to have it published for sure. They probably drive either a BMW or something like that...with their nose stuck up way too high. Perhaps someone needs to wake up, drive one of these mavericks, then jump into the same year model of any other car, preferably an import. Not too many '72 model hondas on the road are there? After being around cars, I will agree that the Maverick is as tough as they come. I've heard so many stories about people driving them and not touching them....yet the ol' maverick served them well for 150,000 miles.

that article kinda gets on my nerves a bit:mad:

Yeah! I think the article was obviously written by the guys at the Die Cast Pub! They even prefered their Vegas!

What do you expect from Microsoft? Intelligence? Bill Gates is obviously a Chevy or a Mopar owner :)

What are you guys complaining about????:D Personally I wish more people would buy into this concept... I'm looking for another '70-'72 model right now and can't find a decent one for a reasonable price! I think I'll print off a copy of that article and take it with me for bargaining power the next time I go look at a candidate.;) Maybe the owner will buy into it and cut me a deal.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

And remember...it's not what THEY think about the cars that endear them to us...it's what WE think about them that counts. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If memory serves correctly, i think Bill Gates drives a heavily computer-ridden Ford Exploder, oops, explorer. And believe me, with all the computers that run his house, his car, etc, he KNOWS that his software sucks! He probably has to reboot his car in the middle of traffic all the time....

It's really interesting seeing that topic and seeing a Maverick picture. According to Ford, the Maverick was their best selling car so where do they get their information. This shows why most journalists and the media needs to be sent to a remote island somewhere away from the respectable public. They can send the lawyers there also for comic relief!

I knew a guy in town with a '72 Maverick, he said he had a friend who worked for Ford, somewhere in the offices, who told him that the Maverick was the best car they have EVER built. Not that it's the most wonderful car on the face of the earth or anything (well, i think so...), but the things are so darn simple that there's nothing that can go wrong!!

Not exactly true i'm affraid but they are the easiest car to fix when something does go wrong :). Even Maverick's and Comet's have their moments. They were certainly the most reliable car though, I mean back in the 70's Mavs and Comets were rarely seen in repair shops which is probably one of the reasons Ford quit making them they were too reliable. There were so many bad cars made it's tough to name the Worst Car Ever, I could name two potential candiadates though.

1. Ford Pinto (Fuel Tank issue of course, otherwise reliable car)

2. Dodge Aries (The worst family car ever made for sure, we had one of these mechanics favorites it was always breaking down, it left me stranded more times then I can recall when it did run it would always leak something, wasn't too bad on speed for a 4 banger but any speed over 70 and it would shake like a California Quake.

I did notice alot of Taurus's at Pick N Pull mostly late 80's models, but quite a few early 90's models mostly with the infamous Head Gasket Blowing 3.8L engines. And miraculously thoses engines are always found fully intact worst engine ever made perhaps? lol. I don't feel the Taurus was the worst car though our 94 while it seen the dealer service department quite often and was a computer nightmare on wheels it never once left me stranded the only car we ever had that didn't, always started never died, never leaked anything either except once when the radiator blew
 . Kinda miss that car in a way it was our daily driver til my mom got in an accident thank God for that 5 star rating though she came out unscaved.
