obviously, the job is not as simple as i had hoped. someone once gave me the same info as you did, i had just forgotten.
i dont really mind the column shift, but it is so sloppy. i was reading another thread on this board about correcting that. the other poster eluded to "it wasnt an easy job with a V8". i reckon i just get to live with the status quo. oh well... i have more pressing issues to deal with anyhow. A floor shifter will move your linkage in the opposite direction than the column. Your column linkage moves toward the rear of the car when shifting from park to drive while the floor shifter linkage will move it foward. You will have to change the transmission shifter arm which requires dropping the valve body. I've been told the exixting shifter can be removed, flipped 180 degrees and reinstalled. I have never tried this but if so, it will make your floor shifter work. If not you will have to get the shifter arm out of a C4 that came with a floor shifter |
