my maverick is equipped with a column-mount C4. its is actually an old worn tranny, that often "slips" into 3rd. the addition of the 4V greatly improved shift response.
you'll probably note that it will rev out further before shifting, after a 4V addition.
i have never actually tried to manually shift my car either. thats just putting it into "D" and dropping the hammer.
i really like the way the edelbrock carb makes the transmission "kickdown" engage.

DO you have a c-4 in your car. Those seem to be very impressive marks for a c-4. I might consider a 500cfm also. Even though I had already ruled out a four barrel in my mind!

:=IMHO... converting your "stock" 302 from a 2V, to a small (500 cfm) 4V is highly logical.
:=this is the only modification made to my maverick, besides dual exhaust. what i got was the same gas mileage, but much crisper throttle response. the car will easily lay a nice burnout/patch + snatch 2nd gear.
:=i have an edelbrock performer + edelbrock 500 cfm carb. it is the perfect application for a stock motor.
:=i think you'd be satisfied with the result. i would guesstimate that it was worth 20-30 horsepower.

:=:=I also have a bone stock 302 with the stock 2v carb. What would that 500 4v carb do for my engine and how would it affect fuel efficiency? I want to make some simple bolt-on mods to my stock engine.
