part of carb broken..

The linkage from the electric choke (the little plastic part that links the arms together) was broken and the part long gone on a 77 ford 302 two bbl. the part staore said they don't stock that part and recommended a holly...... having rebuilt the motercraft carb.. I am not sure i am ready to abandon it yet?? I have to fix the car soon or my wife is going to try and make me sell it, as work might move me to idaho again>........help !!!!any sug. or if holly is a good carb>??
