first car is a 77 302 paower brakes ( found vacuum from the intake manifold for that) automatic I had on hose that went to the pcv valve. one to the distributer and one from the intake manifold to the choke let off... I also has a inch and a half plarte under the carb that has a hose that runs under the car but doesn't seem to be connected to anything.... removed that plate and there is the intake from the carb and a small oblong 1/2imch by 1+1/2inck slot. this had a home brew foil 1/64inch gasket that blocked it ... the adapter plate would not cover this slot so i cut a gasket 1/2inck thick to look likethe one that was in the adapter and put a gasket on ither side of it. then i mounted the adapter (covering the small slot) and mounted the carb. intake manifold was 2 bbl i bought a four bbl performer 500 cfm.... then i conected the linkage using the adapter as i have a kickdown for automatic trans,, started the car it reved real high .. then back fired and started fire i sut it off fire went out ... tried again same result... I have the vacuum advance on the incorrect side so i will be changeing that (thanks ken) any help is appriciated.
