IMHO... converting your "stock" 302 from a 2V, to a small (500 cfm) 4V is highly logical.
this is the only modification made to my maverick, besides dual exhaust. what i got was the same gas mileage, but much crisper throttle response. the car will easily lay a nice burnout/patch + snatch 2nd gear.
i have an edelbrock performer + edelbrock 500 cfm carb. it is the perfect application for a stock motor.
i think you'd be satisfied with the result. i would guesstimate that it was worth 20-30 horsepower.


I also have a bone stock 302 with the stock 2v carb. What would that 500 4v carb do for my engine and how would it affect fuel efficiency? I want to make some simple bolt-on mods to my stock engine.
